Celebrity Hair February 20th, 2008

Carolina keeps her look stylish at the 5th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Vanity Fair Party. The back and sides have been tapered down, leaving the top to be styled up high. This is a full and simple style that works best on medium to fine hair types.

1: Apply Gel To Your Roots
Make sure that your hair is damp and then apply gel to your fingers and rub it into your roots to achieve maximum hold. |
2: Comb Your Hair
Comb your hair into the desired direction that you require for styling. |
3: Use A Small Radial Brush
A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair. |

4: Blow-dry Straight Back
Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the nape/back. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. |
5: Blow-dry The Top Section Back
To blow-dry the top section back you will need to take your brush and firstly make sure that the section is no wider than the diameter of the brush. Next, place your brush on top of your head and under your section. Using your blow-dryer on a medium setting, blow-dry your hair from the roots, slowly lifting your hair up and working your way to the ends. Make sure to keep the blow-dryer in front of the brush at all times. Continue this step until the top section is completely dry. |

6: Tease Your Hair
Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume. |
7: Wax Your Hair Down At The Back
Apply some wax to your fingertips and then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a sculptured look. Pinch clumps of hair in different directions for a messier result. |
8: Style Your Bangs Straight Up Using Wax
Apply a small amount of wax to your fingers, then starting at your roots, apply the wax as you drag your hair in an upwards motion. |
9: Lift Your Roots Using Wax
Apply some hard wax to your fingertips and then rub it into your roots while lifting your strands for soft volume. |
10: Apply Hairspray
To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff. |
TIP: Bring your front sections up and spray a little hairspray into each section before placing the hair back into position to add extra height. |
