This funky look was a fabulous style for Diane at the 13th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards. The ends of her short shaggy ‘do were textured to give her style plenty of body and attitude, and her top front layers were cut short enough to be worn as bangs and were blended well with the rest of her style. This hairstyle will be easy to maintain with regular trims.

1: Apply Moisturizer Apply a small amount of moisturizer to the palm of your hand and distribute it evenly through the mid-lengths and the ends. Moisturizer will help your hair to maintain good condition and protect your strands from heat as you style.

2: Apply Mousse Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

3: Use A Blow-dryer And Your Fingers To Dry Your Hair Off Using your blow-dryer, dry your hair using your fingers, separating the hair and allowing it to dry at the roots first then the mid lengths and then the ends. Making sure the roots are dry first will ensure that your hairstyle does not fall flat.

4: Style Your Hair Down At The Back Using Moulding Cream Apply some moulding cream to your fingertips and then pull it through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a textured look.

5: Style Your Sides Down Using Moulding Cream Using a small amount of moulding cream, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward motion. For added texture, pinch the ends as you go sparingly.

6: Flatten The Top Using Moulding Cream Apply moulding cream to the palms of your hands, and then starting at the top-back area, drag your hands forward, flattening your hair down as you go. For a longer lasting style repeat this step.

7: Lift Your Roots Using Moulding Cream Apply some moulding cream to your fingertips and then rub it into your roots while lifting your strands for added body. Be sure not to use too much moulding cream at the roots as this can result in a glugy and thick uncomfortable feel.

8: Use Moulding Cream For Texture Apply moulding cream to your fingertips and then pinch small clumps of hair in an up and forward motion. Pinch the clumps in different directions for a messier look.

9: Style Your Bangs To The Left Using Moulding Cream Apply moulding cream to your fingertips then gently rake through your bangs, sweeping the hair to the left as you go. Be careful not to use too much product as it can become sticky and clumpy.

10: Apply Hairspray To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.

TIP: Bring the hair on top forward and pinch and piece the hair all over to add texture.
